Learning To Reach Out

Writer's picture: Jordan AtwoodJordan Atwood

Sometimes, reaching out can be scary, but I have learned to face my fears and reach out to professionals. These past two weeks in ISM, we have been trying to find professionals in the area to conduct research interviews with. This past week, I contacted two dermatology clinics requesting an interview with one of their professionals in the clinic. I have heard back from one clinic and have gotten the opportunity to interview one of their laser technicians in hopes of gaining more insight into laser therapy. I will continue to reach out to clinics in hopes of being able to interview other professionals on their knowledge of dermatology and laser therapy. Throughout these past weeks, as I build up for a research interview, I have been conducting research on my own about laser therapies. The research I am doing in class will give me a little bit of a background on what laser therapy is, so when I interview the professionals, I am prepared. I am looking forward to learning more about laser therapy from professionals; I hope that these research interviews will inspire some new ideas for my original work project.

Overall, ISM has so far immensely enhanced my knowledge of dermatology while also giving me the practice of contacting professional
