This past week in ISM, I got to further my research by completing an annotated bibliography. Some of the sources I picked led me to new discoveries about dermatology, more specifically, all the advances in diagnosing and curing diseases that have been discovered in the past ten years. I learned about several different types of therapies in dermatology. Some of these include laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, narrowband ultraviolet B therapy, and many more. I learned how these can help cure or minimize symptoms for many diseases. As well, I got to learn about an issue in dermatology. It has been shown that dermatologist sometimes struggle when diagnosing people with different skin colors. There have been new advancements to medical school teachings in order to get rid of this barrier. I will be interested to see what I will learn about how to handle different skin colors in dermatology, and how to hopefully break this barrier. This upcoming week my goal is to work on finding a professional outfit, and discovering how to dress professionally in the work field. Overall, I am having a great time learning more about dermatology. I hope to learn more this week and go into depth about some of the articles I have read recently by completing our research assessment.
